Local knowledge for a grounded (bio)economy in the Amazon
The LINKAGES Project is a research consortium that analyzes the concept of thebioeconomy in the Amazon through the lens of sociobiodiversity value chains.Based on local knowledge, social technologies and standing forests, agroforests and floodplain lakes of the Amazon, these value chains support local economies and promote relevant transformations in the region. As a project, we seek to understand the organization and functioning ofthese value chains as well as their economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts at different levels.
We are a transdisciplinary team comprised by members of universities, civil society organizations and local communities. Together, we adopt a methodology based on co-production of knowledge to critically think about sustainability and inclusive development in the Amazon. Built on a long-term commitment to the region, our project seeks to contribute to solutions that benefit the forest and the people who live in it.
